Set & Forget Backup & Restore System
What is SiteSync?
SiteSync is a cloud-based application to backup all your websites on autopilot. Not only WordPress sites, but also any HTML site.
Of course, once backed up, you can download your website files and/or restore them easily.
You can preset how often (when) your backups are made (one-time, every day, 2 times a week, weekly, 2 times a month, or monthly).
There are 3 options to backup your websites:
- Use the WordPress plugin. Simply install the plugin and connect the plugin with SiteSync via a hashcode (sort of protection/license code, to enter only once).
- Smart FTP method. Just enter your FTP access and domain details.
- Manually. For a one-time backup.
During the setup, you can decide where you want your website files to be saved:
- SyncManage, i.e. on the servers of SiteSync (maximum of 50 GB storage).
- Amazon S3.
- Google Drive.
You can restore your sites by using FTP to your original FTP site location or to any other (new) FTP site location.
So, this is a great way to easily clone your sites!
As there are thousands of WordPress blogs hacked every day, a backup and restore solution is a must have for everyone.
And if you are using WordPress, often a new plugin or theme (update) can mess up your blog.
In that case, an easy backup/restore option will avoid you from not getting access to your blog anymore, or losing relevant data, and lost time.

Are there any shortcomings?
As you are using a cloud-based app, there are other users who use the same application at the same time. Therefor, there can be a cue of other members who also wanted to restore their sites at the moment you want to restore your site. The creators have indicated that the waiting time (before your restore is ready) can be anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes.
Furthermore, there is a maximum storage amount of 10 (basic license) or 50 GB (elite license) for the free storage.
Also this application has “only” a backup/download/restore functionality. It doesn’t protect/secure your site against hackers, malware etc.
You still have to protect/secure your sites. But at least, you now have always a proper backup and can restore your website fast.
Overall, the dashboard/user interface is clear and the app is easy to use. Also there are some video tutorials to guide you.
