What is SproutAudience?

How does SproutAudience work?
Step 1: Select whether you want to use a Facebook video or embed video (YouTube or S3 hosted) on your website.
The process for Embed videos is a little different than for Facebook videos:
Step 2a: Create Campaign for Embed Video.
- Give your campaigns a name.
- Select your video source (YouTube or Amazon S3 hosted).
- Enter video URL.
- Set times. Select how far into a video a viewer must watch (in seconds) in order for a custom audience to be created. You can add as many segments as you wish. For practical usage, you probably will only use a few, for example 5 seconds, 30 seconds and 300 seconds).
- Select your favorite Player Skin.
- Select your Facebook Ad account.
- Select the Player settings (Autoplay, Force Hide Controls) and Hit the button to create your embed code.
- Place the embed code on your webpage (sales page, webinar registration, squeeze page etc.)
Step 2b: Create Campaign for Facebook Video.
This time, you have to create your “Facebook Video (Ad) Post” inside SproutAudience (with built-in preview feature) and the App automatically posts your video to Facebook after you entered all details:
- Give your campaign a name.
- Select your Facebook Page (connected with SproutAudience).
- Enter (video) description.
- Upload video file.
- Select one or more of the predefined options that Facebook allows you to segment your videos (started watching video, 10 seconds watched, 25%/50%/75% of video watched, and/or completed watched video).
- Select your Facebook Ad Account.
- Hit the button to upload your video as Facebook video post.
Step 3: Create your new Facebook Ad campaigns and select your (video behavioral) custom audiences.

Are there any shortcomings?
You are allowed to use SproutAudience for personal Facebook (Ad) Accounts only.

I found no bugs or other major shortcomings. The App is easy to use and video tutorials are easy to follow.
Overall, I really like this new App, because it’s the only and first App that lets you easily and automatically create custom audiences based upon video view time.
Yes I know, you can try to create your video engagement custom audiences manually by using Facebook’s new features for advertisers. But then you have to do it manually and it’s rather a complex process. Also you can only use this segmentation for Facebook native videos. Note: there are tools to segment your website visitors by how long they visit your webpage, like WP Profit Triggers or ConnectRetarget, but I don’t know about any other tool that can segment purely on video watch time.
